This happened to us with the R1300GS in our fleet. The bike has only 6,000 km. It was picked up from the dealer and had its 1,000 km check-up done by an official BMW dealer. Nothing was touched on the front or rear axle as the tyres are still in good condition after only 6,000 km. This happened at 50 km/h, I don't want to think what could have happened if we had ridden on the motorway at higher speeds. After the bearing broke, the bike logically couldn't be ridden at more than 30 km/h. I've never been a fan of GSs but I've been in love with the 1300 so far, much more fun and agile than the previous models. It seems like a great bike to me and my clients. But these things shouldn't happen, especially knowing that our case is not isolated and there are users who have had it happen after only 4,000 km. Guys, if you hear any noise or feel any vibratuons from the front, please remove the wheel and check your ball bearings.
