Sorry, I meant the little bypass valve that sits just inside of the filter. According to the book, if this valve is stuck in open position and/or does not seal properly, then it can lead to low oil pressure. But I find it hard to understand, because all the fluid will still have to pass trough the same "bottleneck" before it reaches the pressure switch. If the pump delivers the correct amount of flow, then pressure would have to build up again after passing the bypass valve (if it is open)?
By the way; is the outer rotor on the pump secured by a .....? I cannot find it in any spares list or shops.
The bike is parked now. I have contacted a German BMW mechanic who will fix the bike when he gets back from vacation.
it still runs fine and the are no strange sounds. In the end, before I parked it, the oil lamp went off again and acted normal except for same vague glow when I accelerated.
